Klaas Banga
Physiotherapist / Owner

Klaas is a Physiotherapist and Orthopaedic Manual Therapist. After graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands in 1999, Klaas started working as a Physiotherapist in a private practice in Amsterdam. In order to develop a more evidence-based background Klaas went on studying on the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, to graduate as a Master of Science in Physiotherapy in 2002. In the mean time he had started his own private Physiotherapy practice in Amsterdam in 2000. Driven by the ambition to have expert skills in treating musculoskeletal patients, Klaas started studying Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in 2002, following the Nordic system of Kaltenborn and Evjenth. He successfully completed this specialisation in 2007.

As an Orthopaedic Manual Therapist Klaas has a particular interest in diagnosing and treating spinal problems and he is also keen to treat sports injuries, as he has extensive experience at the highest levels of sports, treating many Olympic medallists. Klaas has been working on an international level for 8 years with Olympic Athletes as Physiotherapist for the Dutch Volleyball Team, the Dutch Rowing Team and on a national level with the Amsterdam Basketball Team, Ricoh Astronauts.

In 2008 Klaas decided to continue his Physio career in Australia. Klaas has been in the Gladstone region since April 2009 and loves to live and work in this area, close to the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

In recent years Klaas has done many courses to keep his clinical level high, dry needling being one of them. Klaas is also a clinical instructor for students from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Griffith University, Australia.


Larissa Polkinghorne
Physiotherapist / Owner

Larissa graduated from a Master of Physiotherapy in Western Australia, following a Health Science degree with Honours in Psychology.

Larissa has extensive experience in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal injures, ensuring the latest evidence-based practice aligns with patient goals. She has a particular interest in lower back pain, pelvic dysfunction (including pain and urinary/bowel symptoms), neck pain/headaches, chronic pain conditions and oncology rehabilitation.

To stay abreast of the latest evidence in the profession, she regularly attends advanced education courses.

Larissa also holds post graduate qualifications in Continence and Women’s and Men’s Health which has provided her with expertise in assisting with the management of pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, bladder and bowel incontinence, prolapse, and antenatal and postnatal care.

Below is a list of Women’s/Men’s Health conditions Larissa is able to treat:

  • Incontinence
  • Urinary Incontinence (loss of bladder control)
  • Faecal Incontinence (loss of bowel control)
  • Pain
  • Pelvic girdle pain

Courtney Hallinan

Courtney is a local from Calliope and studied her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at Central Queensland University in Rockhampton.

She has a professional interest in providing holistic health care to patients and a keen interest in rehabilitation. When someone has an injury, they are often really restricted initially and in a lot of pain.

Courtney loves to help rehabilitate people from the tough initial stage and help them return to optimal function. Courtney has gained experience from roles in five different hospitals. These involved the main physiotherapy disciplines (cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopaedic physiotherapy) and treating patients with chronic pain issues. Courtney is a pilates trained instructor and will be holding regular pilates classes.

Courtney can help you with injury management and your everyday aches and pains including:

  • Acute and chronic back pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee injuries
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Exercise programs
  • Falls prevention exercise

Courtney enjoys volunteering in local sports clubs (Calliope Roosters Rugby League, Calliope Hack and Pony Club) and using her physiotherapy skills to help injured sports people (Rockhampton Netball Tournament).
